Government of India-backed Media and Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) ties up with Producer Bazaar to provide formal training to assistants in various trades of cinema
Media & Entertainment Skills Council, promoted by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) with financial support by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), has joined forces with Producer Bazaar, an organisation involved in streamlining various activities of entertainment industry, to offer a training to assistants in cinema field. With the film industry largely being unorganised, workers like assistant directors, assistant camerapersons, and assistant editors are not able to get their due recognition and government benefits. For instance, when the COVID-19 pandemic crippled the world, this unsung force of cinema industry struggled a lot to receive assistance due to lack of enrollment in government records.
