Summary:

‘Badmashulu’ is a light-hearted rural Telangana-based comedy. Directed by Shankar Cheguri, the film revolves around two drunkards from a village called Kothulagudem. Trailer Tirupati (played by Mahesh Chintala) and Barber Muthyalu (played by Vidyasagar Karampuri) are petty thieves who can’t live without alcohol. Their careless lifestyle, minor thefts that lead them to the police station, and the eventual transformation form the crux of the story.

Positives:

• Strong depiction of Telangana nativity and village life.

• Performances by Mahesh and Vidyasagar feel natural and honest.

• Some comedy scenes are genuinely funny.

Negatives:

• The story revolves around a single point, which feels stretched at times.

Performances:

Mahesh Chintala, who has impressed in OTT films like Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, Keedaa Cola, and Sattigani Rendu Ekaralu, delivers a convincing performance in a lead role. Vidyasagar Karampuri, known for key roles in Balagam and Bheemadevarapally Branchi, shines as Muthyalu with his natural expressions and comic timing. The supporting cast, including Deeksha Koteshwar and Kavitha, do justice to their limited roles. Murali Dhar, Balagam Sudhakar Reddy, and others add value to the story.

Technical Aspects:

The film is technically decent. Teja Koonuru’s background music enhances the scenes. Songs are average. Vineeth Pabbathi’s cinematography and Gajjala Rakshith Kumar’s editing are adequate. The production values suit the scale of the film.

Final Verdict:

‘Badmashulu’ offers a slice-of-life comedy with local flavor, decent performances, and a social message at the end. While the plot could have been stronger and more engaging, the film manages to entertain in parts.
